LOS NARANJOS - El Salvador
Los Naranjos is a group of coffee farms headed by retired professor of Agronomy at the National School of Agriculture, Sigfredo Corado.
This lot is from Finca Noruega and is part of the Renacer Program (to be reborn) which is a technical field school and educational program for producers in the area to learn about farm management practices. Sitting at around 43 Manzanas (just over 71 acres) the entire farm is dedicated to practical education that are restorative to the land and soil with a goal to yield healthier and more sustainable coffee trees.
The coffee we have chosen is made up solely of Bourbon that was picked selectively before being taken to the wet mill and drying beds at Beneficio San Rafael located between the two hills of El Pilon and Cerro Aguila at 1450 masl. Here the Bourbon is washed and floated then being sealed in barrels equipped with one way valve to avoid the cherries to have any contact with the oxygen during the fermentation period that in this case is 72 hours, once the fermentation process is finished the coffee is laid out on drying beds for between 22 - 25 days where it is moved every hour until ready.Expect sweet spiced aromatics on the nose with intense jammy rhubarb acidity. Los Naranjos is roasted with all brewing methods in mind so you can enjoy this coffee as a filter, espresso or with your choice of milk.
