Social impact
As a social enterprise, our primary mission is to help reduce homelessness in the UK through training and employment within speciality coffee.
65% of the profits we generate are reinvested into our barista training programme.
Whether that's assisting our head roaster at our roastery or working in one of our cafes as a barista, we're committed to supporting our trainees from training to employment.
Sustainability
We've made a commitment to plant a tree for every bag of coffee that we sell, through our partnership with the Eden Reforestation Project.
Whether you are a wholesale customer or simply buying a bag online, you can now enjoy your coffee knowing not only is it responsibly sourced, it is also helping the planet.
Sourcing quality coffee
We ensure the coffees we serve are as fresh and seasonal as possible to showcase the wonderful diversity of flavours and aromas found in different coffees around the world.
We also have a strong focus on quality. Higher quality means a better price for the farmer, so it is very important that we continue to work with the producers that consistently supply us with high scoring coffees. This helps them secure a higher price which is often 4 - 5 times higher than the Fairtrade minimum.

SOCIAL IMPACT
As a social enterprise, Old Spike’s primary mission is to help reduce homelessness in the UK through training and employment within speciality coffee.
With 65% of the profits we generate going back to supporting our social mission, we rely entirely on traded income to meet our social objectives.
After many years of being known as a producer of Robusta, Indian coffee growers are having the recognition that they deserve for their efforts on producing Arabica coffee as outstanding as that delivered by countries with decades of coffee culture and heritage.
On this occasion we sourced from Mooleh Manay Estate a lot from their last harvest, an incredible coffee full of flavors and complexity. The Estate is managed by Komal and Akshay and their Farm is located near the Harangi Reservoir in Coorg, Karnataka. The producers take a data-driven approach to farming and coffee processing, optimizing agricultural practices and ensuring the highest quality coffee production. Apart from Arabica, the farm cultivates a variety of coffee species, including Robusta and Excelsa, and uses meticulous processing methods to bring out the best the coffee has to offer.
The coffee, the result of 48 hours of anaerobic fermentation with a specific yeast culture, will surprise any palate with its notes of black cherry and chocolate with a sirupy finish. The intense body of this coffee will make a delicious espresso and a solid filter coffee.
